hats

Springdip_2 I've been feeling like I can't and/or don't want to do all of things I'm doing right now.  Like I can't wear all of the hats I wear.  I've been thinking about giving it all up, this blog (which I've had for over three years), my etsy shops, all of it.  And then today I read this on Decor8 (and my entire perspective changed):

Don't let anyone tell you that you can only wear one hat in this life, the more hats you wear the better because then you're flexible and a hard ship to sink.

Mosaic2162395_2These are things that I've recently added to both shops.  All are available, except for the green transferware plate, which hasn't been listed yet.  But it will soon.

MecharHappy Birthday to my sweet boy.  I love you.

happy birthday

DafsHappy Birthday to my mama!  She's celebrating in NYC with my sister and one of our very good and long time family friends.  I talked to them today as they were about to get on the subway and it sounded like they were already having too much fun.  Tomorrow they might be going here.  {I'm a tad bit jealous!} Good times in the big city!

And these flowers are from her garden, which today are a great reminder that it really is spring even though it's cold and nasty outside.  Thanks Mom!

lions and tigers and bears...

Today we went to the zoo.  For less than an hour.  It was a quick, but fun trip.  I've promised the boys for weeks that we would go and tonight seemed like a good time.  If we didn't have a membership, I would never do this, but it seemed kind of fun to just go for a little bit.  And we didn't do our usual tour, tonight we spent a lot of time with the cats.  They are so beautiful, it almost takes my breath away.  The last animal we saw were lions, lionesses to be exact.  One of them locked eyes with me immediately.  It was kind of spooky.  I swear it was like she knew me.  I kept thinking she wasn't looking at me, but when I finally walked away her head turned and her eyes followed me.  Maybe my mormor came back as a lioness?  I don't know.  And no, I haven't been (or didn't before the zoo) partaking in any adult beverages.  Maybe she said to herself, "Snack."  If that was the case I'm happy for all of the thick glass.  Ha ha.

Now that you think I'm crazy, this won't surprise you at all.  In January I started running with a group of women about 15 miles a week.  Two ladies in my running group organized a half-marathon on Saturday instead of driving down to Lincoln to do the Lincoln Marathon.  And somehow I got talked into participating.  I've known about it for months, but knew I wouldn't  be ready.  Well, several people (especially my friend that got me into this mess) have said I should do it and just walk, or turn around if I need to.  It's not like it's the Boston Marathon, it's just a bunch of forty-something-moms pushing themselves.  It's amazing what women will do to get time away from their kids...  So be thinking of me Saturday morning on the Keystone trail.  I'll report in, if I make it back!  Oh, and my running group was in the paper on Tuesday.  I'm not in the photo because it was taken on a Saturday and I don't run on Saturdays, well unless it's a half-marathon day.

Two more things (because what would a blog post be without me hawking something).  I just put one pillow case dress on garage sale and an Ebba original market bag.  These bags are so awesome.  And very earth friendly, if you're into that and if not, you need one anyway.  :)

Say what?

Charlie:
When asked by a friend of David's how baseball was going, Charlie replied, "I run the bases like a wild tiger."

Sam:
Whenever I buy something he loves at the grocery store he always asks, "Can you buy this again on Mondays and Tuesdays?"

Ella:
"Oh, good morning!"
"I'mfinethankyouhowareyou?"
"Sammy, I'm pickin' my boogers!"
"Hold a me."
"Me too.  And Sammy too.  And Charee too."
"I not a goosie.  I Peedie."  (You have to be familiar with the Gossie books to get this one)
"Don't you be sassy, Mommy."
"I wanna WALK!"
And my favorite from today:
"I not going to take a nap."  And she didn't.  Help.
