Jan & Feb in review

Mosaic5084332 I can't believe it's the end of February and although I'm ready to say goodbye to winter, it seems like time just moves so quickly.  Sam will be five on Monday.  Five?  How did that happen?  I notice him changing so much right now and it's exciting.

Now we move into March, which is not only Sam's birthday month, it's a month of madness (college hoops), a month of a crazy travel schedule for David, a month where I get to visit the city by the bay, and a month of hopefully warmer temperatures.  I might even run a 5K in March, followed by pizza and beer (hey, it's on St. Patty's Day, so what do you expect?).  So here's to March coming in like a lamb and going out like one too.

The two girls

Ella85_2 The two girls in the house are a little under the weather.  We both have colds and this little miss has a fever.  Poor thing!  She's been about as sweet as she could be though.  She just wants to be held and even though I hate it that she's sick, I sure love to get to hold her.  Although she's a momma's girl, she doesn't often slow down that long for me to just hold her and have her rest her head on my chest.  When your babies are little they do that all the time, but that time is fleeting.  So when you get it back, if only for a day, you treasure the sweetness.

c is for cookie

Cookieblog1Sam and I baked today.  We were going to do it in the afternoon and then we were invited over to our neighbor's house for lunch so we quick whipped them up this morning so we could bring some for dessert.  It's such an easy recipe and the cookies are good too.  Would you like the recipe?  Check it out here.  It's been awhile since I've updated.  I actually just added two recipes.

Is it spring yet?

Not here in Nebraska.  Ay yi yi, is it going to be cold tonight and tomorrow.  So cold that they've canceled school.  No school, no running and most important no bagels.  I don't think we'll even leave the house tomorrow and taking George out to pee should be a real picnic.  Fortunately he's gotten to the point where we can put him out by himself to do his business.  He loves to be outside and enjoys his frequent breaks.  He can get through the gate, so I have to keep my eye on him, but it's a lot nicer than having him on the leash and standing there waiting for him.  Ella has now decided that she likes him and she will even pet him.  She's still scared of him though.  There are times when she forgets about him and then sees him and comes running to me saying, "I scared of Georgie!"  It's amazing how fast it all goes.  He's grown so much and although he's not completely house trained, we're really making progress.  He's going to be a great dog.

Anyway, back to the weather...  Instead of thinking about the frigid temps, I'm going to focus on some good things that are happening right now:

**Getting my hair cut tonight and getting one more day out of my straight hair, which is impossible for me to achieve on my own.

**Obama winning Wisconsin.  Obama!  Obama!  Obama!

**The new spring clothes lines at Anthropologie, The Gap and Old Navy.  I can't wait to put my sweaters away!

**Being able to not only run 5 miles, but being able to keep up with the group.

**Charlie's reading and math levels.  I'm so proud of him.  But what I'm most proud of is his interest in learning.  That is way more exciting than grade levels (I could really brag, but I won't, or was that considered bragging?).  :)

**My mom and the dress she made Ella for Valentine's day.  Oh my, it is so stinkin' cute and I think I have her talked into opening an etsy shop.  Stay tuned!

**Getting all dressed up this weekend for a great cause

**My littlest boy being close to turning five and watching how he's changing right now.

**Taking all three to Subway and the Family Fun Center, and having Charlie say it was his best day ever (Thanks Mom!).

**My etsy shop and what it's already given me.  It's given me another creative outlet, and a feeling of accomplishment, even though I haven't achieved great success.  I've also learned new things, met new people and all this would not have happened if I hadn't taken the chance.

**Speaking of creative outlets, It Kit is such a good thing in my life.  It's been awesome to be a part of my friend's vision and not only design layouts and cards, but design stamps.  Her trust and belief in me and my abilities (when a lot of time I don't believe in myself) means the world to me.  Thanks K!

**Books!  I just bought a couple new books from Amazon.  One I read about on Decor8, another is a book about starting a creative business and the third is Oprah's current book.  I'll post the exact titles, but I'm just too lazy right now.  The other book I'm reading is The Glass Castle.  It is great!  And a true story.

**American Idol.

I think that's it for tonight.  I'm going to go try to keep warm!!!

It kit...

Here are my projects for the March It kit, which features the most amazing punch from Fiskars.  It's brand new and you can only get it here.  :)

no more diapers?

Ellapink1Ella decided she no longer needed her booster seat today.  She's about big enough to reach the table/island without it and it's such a pain, that we agreed.  It's one more baby item that is gone.  After this move from babyhood we thought we would begin the journey to being potty trained.  It didn't go so well.  I think between her accidents and the dog, we'll wait a bit longer...

Happy Valentine's Day!

BorsheimsboxSome long for little turquoise blue boxes with white satin ribbon, but I'm kind of partial to silver and burgundy...

Hope your day is lovely...
